Jeannette Rankin was born in Montana on June 11th 1880, and died at age 93 on May 18th 1973. She graduated from the University of Montana with a bachelor of science degree in biology in 1902. From 1908 to 1909 she studied at the New York School of Philanthropy, and after that she studied social legislation at the University of Washington where she got into the women's suffrage movement. On November 7th, 1916 Jeanette was elected to the House of Representative as a Montana Republican, as the first women in Congress, a huge step for women. |
