Elizabeth was born on November 12th, 1815 in Johnston Town, NY. As she grew up she became a main figure in the women's movement. She also was an abolitionist. Being the president of the National Woman Suffrage Association, her Declaration of sentiments was a very important item in the lives of women around the world. She would travel constantly to give speeches and various lectures. The Woman's Bible, (a critique) was made by her and her daughter; Harriet Blatch. By posting this it stirred up a lot of problems with many woman suffragists. Dying on October 26th, she was well remembered and a well recognized individual in the world.
"Because man and woman are the complement of one another, we need woman's thought in national affairs to make a safe and stable government." "Woman will always be dependent until she holds a purse of her own." |
